Obviously, one of my favorite hobbies is to gripe about corruption in government. I need a break from that. So to relieve my stress I deal with Drawing and Genealogy. Following ones family tree can be informative, and aggrivating, but if done right, you can find out how you are going to die.
Sounds pretty damn morbid, I know, but the truth is many deaths are caused by genetical predispositions. Maybe someone died of breast cancer and you think nothing of it till your sister gets it. Thats the p38 gene. My family history is pretty bleak. It seems that all the males on my dads side like to die between 40 and 60 of mysterious heart issues(not a heart attack). Then again supposedly there are severe mental issues on my mothers mothers side. Apparently I am damned from both sides. Wish I had known all this before I had children.
Family trees can lead to historical significant stories, but how about working on how they died and trying to find out illnesses and disease. What if your father was exposed to agent orange in vietnam before you were concieved. Did you know that those herbacides are stored in fat cells and have been known to cause cancers and genetical birth defects?
Its always important to know a full family history when you see a dr. Things that your relatives may have had can have a direct impact on your health. If you don't care about yourself thats fine, but if you have children is this not an endeavor to make their lives better?
